The starting and ending point of this Annapurna circuit trek is Kathmandu-Pokhara. As we have mentioned above this is adventurous moderate challenging grade of trekking. Travelers can experience this trek in the autumn and in spring. Trekkers can ascend up to 5,416m of altitude. Vehicle and flight both are included transportation service in this program. At least 4-6 hrs of daily activities should be done per day. The nature of this trek is Lodge to Lodge. The required permits to do this trekking are TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) & ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project).

Annapurna Circuit is a Trek route in central Nepal with the mountain range. The total length of this Annapurna Circuit Trek covers 160-230 Km. The hallmark of this trekking program are dramatic deep gorges, Buddhist and Hindus temples, delightful picturesque of cultivated farms, fantastic hill station view point and magnificent view of Annapurna summit. Through this trip discover the ancestral culture and tradition of local people in the elevation of 5,500m above the sea level. This is moderate grade challenging trek.

Annapurna Circuit is publicly opened for foreign trekkers in 1977 AD. Generally, Himalayan region cannot be trekked in wet winter, but much of the areas of Annapurna region sit in the shadow of rain. This means it is possible and practical to trek Annapurna in a rainy season.

What is the best time to do the Annapurna Circuit Trek?

The ideal time for the Annapurna Circuit Trek is during spring – March to May and autumn – September to November seasons.  These time of season offers you clear skies, stable weather & comfortable trekking trails.

How Challenging is Annapurna Circuit Trek?

Annapurna Circuit Trek is considered as a difficult one. As we are trekking up to 4,130 m/ 13,548 ft high, the trekking trials gives you incredibly enjoyable journey. With the proper preparation & acclimatization it has been completed successfully by people of all ages. Even suitable for first time hikers, the trekking trails goes from 1000 meters to 4,130 meters.

Can we do Annapurna Circuit Trekking solo?

It is compulsory of have a licensed guide for international trekkers during the trekking in all over the Nepal. Even though trails are well marked experience guide & porter can add value to your trekking. Recently from 1st April 2023 the Government of Nepal has been implement the rule for Annapurna Circuit to have a license guide.

Is it necessary to hire porter or guide for the trekking in Nepal?

Hiring a guide for multiday trekking & international trekkers is compulsory and highly recommended to enhance safety and overall trekking experience. A guide can provide valuable insights about the route, local culture and also help with navigation. A porter ‘allowing you to trek with less weight and conserve energy can assist in carrying your heavy backpack.

What permits are required for the Annapurna Circuit Trek?

For Annapurna Circuit Trek you need to have below mentioned permits:

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): NPR 3,000 Per Person

Trekker’s Information Management System (TIMS) Card: NPR 2,000 Per Person

What kinds of accommodation are available during Trekking in Annapurna?

You may see numerous tea houses or guest house offering basic accommodation and hot meals. In room you can have normal blankets so it is advisable to carry sleeping bag better for colder months. You can experience increasing prices of accommodation and food as you go higher altitude. You may also have to share bathrooms & toilets with other trekkers.

Are there ATMs during Annapurna Circuit Trek?

It is recommended to carry enough Nepalese currency during the Annapurna Circuit Trek. In some larger towns like Besishahar, Manag, Jomsom you can find the ATMs available but they may not always be accessible and reliable.

Kathmandu To Chame

Trek Duration 8-9 hrs drive

Early Morning you will proceed to Chame by private vehicle. Chame is situated at 2,650 meters above from sea level & starting point of Annapurna Circuit Trekking. It takes approximately 8 to 9 hours drive to reach Chame. Drive will take you through scenic landscape and rural countryside. Crossing Marshyangdi River you will enjoy glimpse of mountains & local farms. Upon arrival you can take short walk around the village. You can see chicken & goat roaming around.

Day 2
Chame To Pissang
Highest Altitude 3,250 m/ 10,531 ft.
Trek Duration 5-6 hours

After early breakfast, you’ll proceed towards Pisang. Today’s trekking is going to be the easiest throughout the entire program. You’ll be astounded to see breathtaking scenery of great sweeping slope of Pungi Danda. The trekking trail between Chame and Pisang is little bit ups and downs with maximum plain lands. The trek duration will for today will be approximately 6 hours. You will pass through apple orchards, suspension bridge. From Pissang you can enjoy the view of Pisang peak, Annapurna II & Annapurna IV.

Day 3
Pissang To Manang
Highest Altitude 3,519 m/ 11,545 ft.
Trek Duration 5-6 hours

After early breakfast, you’ll start to proceed Manang through the northern trekking trail via upper Pisang and Ghyaru. These are the area which is known for the spectacular view. Nowadays these both areas are dried. Along the way you’ll see the farmer gazing the Tibetan Yak’s. One tips for you during this day is It is better to have the dress except red colored because the Tibetan Yak gives more attention to the color. The trek duration for today will be approximately 6 hours.

Day 4
Manang - Acclimatization Day
Highest Altitude 3,519 m/ 11,545 ft.

Acclimatize and spend the day by exploring the local village from where you can see majestic mountains Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Gangapurna and Chulu East. Later return to lower Manang for overnight.

Manang To Siri Kharka

Trek Duration 4-5 hours

After breakfast once ready proceed to Siri Kharka. The trails is considered as beautiful section of Annapurna Circuit Trek which passes through scenic landscape, small local settlement, farmland and offers glimpse of the Annapurna Moutanin ranges. The trails follows the eastern bank of Marshyangdi river and you will be treated to panoramic views of surrounding peaks Annapurna III, Gangapurna & Tilicho Peak.

Day 6
Siri Kharka To Tilicho Base Camp
Highest Altitude 4,150 m/ 13,583 ft.
Trek Duration 5-6 hours

Early Morning you will proceed to Chame by private vehicle.     Today you will do challenging part of the Annapurna Curcuit Trekking and also rewarding as well. Trekking trails leading you to mesmerizing Tilicho lake you will walk though rocky terrain and alpine landscape where you will gradually gain altitude. During you trek you can take short break at Khangsar Village which is picturesque itself. Tilicho Base Camp serves as a resting point before the final ascent to Tilicho Lake. From base camp you can enjoy remarkable view od the surrounding peaks including Tilicho Peak and the Massive glaciers.

Day 7
Tilicho Base Camp To Tilicho Lake Visit To Siri Kharka
Highest Altitude 4,919 m/ 16,138 ft.
Trek Duration 5-6 hours

Today you will continue trekking from Tilicho Base Camp to Tilicho Lake. You can experience the trails becoming steeper and more challenging slowly. Tilicho Lake is recorded 4 meters long 1.2 kilometer wide & 200 meter deep. After visiting Tilicho Lake, World’s Highest lake, you will continue return to Siri Kharkha.

Day 8
Siri Kharka To Yak Kharka

Trek Duration 4-5 hours

After early breakfast, you’ll start your trekking journey towards Yak Kharka. The distance between Manang and Yak Kharka is about 7 Km and it takes to 5 hours of trekking today to reach the destination. The way is steady uphill into the alpine region of mountain range. Along the way you’ll see the mountain vista and hypnotic mountainous sceneries.

Yak Kharka To Thorang Phedi
Highest Altitude 4,525 m/14,501 ft.
Trek Duration 3-4 hours

The trek from Yak Kharka to Thorang Phedi is considered as crucial stage of the Annapurna Circuit Trekking. You can see Yak grazing in the high altitude, the ladscape becomes more dramatic with towering peaks and glacial moraines. At tea house of Thorang Phedi you can recharge your body with warm meal and good rest cause you going to pass through the World’s highest walkable pass, “Thorang La Pass” next day.

Day 10
Thorang Phedi To Thorang La Pass To Muktinath
Highest Altitude 3,760 m/ 12,335 ft.
Trek Duration 7-8 hours

After early breakfast, you’ll proceed towards Muktinath. Firstly you’ll cross Thorung La Pass (5416m), through the steep easy to follow trail. After ascending for 4-6 hrs you’ll reach to the top of Thorung La Pass’s Peak. There you’ll see traditional stupa (chorten), prayer’s flag, and stones structures made by the travelers. Stop and view the sceneries from the highest point (5461m).

Later you’ll proceed to Muktinath pilgrimage temple. The way towards Muktinath from Pass’s highest point is steeply descending to Chabarbu. After reaching to Chabarbu you’ll walk about an hour to reach Muktinath. Today your trekking duration will be approximately 8-9 hours.

Day 11
Muktinath To Jomsom
Highest Altitude 2,743 m/ 8,999 ft.
Trek Duration 5-6 hours

After early breakfast, You’ll proceed to Jomsom. This trekking trail passes nearby village settlements. Along the way, you’ll see the local people living in traditional style. You can pass through the ancient village name Purang. At the mid-way you’ll reach Jhong. Jhong is also a small village like Purang. From Jhong the hiking trail starts to descend down towards the river named Jhing Khola. You can see the panoramic view of emerging Kagbeni (attracted tourist spot near Muktinath). Today your trekking duration will be approximately 5-6 hours.

Day 12
Jomsom To Pokhara
Flight hours 20 minutes
Highest Altitude 2,743 m/ 8,999 ft.

After early breakfast, you’ll proceed to Pokhara by early flight (approx. 20 minutes flight). Upon arrival at Pokhara, meet our representative at Pokhara Airport. Then you’ll be proceed to hotel. On this day you can relax and take rest. The day is free for you. You can stroll around lakeside on your own.

Personal items you need to bring for Annapurna Circuit Trekking

  • Daypack (rucksack)
  • Backpack (porter will carry it) Recommended size: about 50-liter capacity (10-12 kgs per person) you can share one backpack between the two of you.
